Lens design software is made to evaluate existing system or to design a new one with very specific image quality. They are expensive and not easy to master. But in a lab, what you mainly need is to know what kinds of lenses you need and where you should put them and maybe have a first idea if the image quality will be good or not. In such case a good understanding of only the first order optics is relevant. The tool presented is based on it with the Delano diagram.

It is especially aimed at engineers, who are not specialized in optics. This tool greatly helps in finding solutions for many kinds of lens systems. It is also very useful to understand existing systems. This seminar will start with a very basic principle and go up to design a complex system such as laser scanning ophthalmoscopy and to understand an adaptative optical system.
